Dancing into the Night

Midsummer celebrations. Being a "Scanditaliana", Midsummer Eve means something special, even if

the surroundings are different, the Umbrian night dark,

buttercups, bluebells, daisies, lilies of the valley and forget-me-nots are just not there,

the setting has to be improvised.... A ranch immersed in the Umbrian green hills.

I mingle with Scandinavian and Italian friends,

we do as we always did... Dance into the night,

play games, make fools of ourselves, eat and toast...

until it is time to break up "the morning after the night before".
Wherever you are in the world, enjoy the longest day of the year - at least in the Northern Hemisphere. If you are elsewhere, find reasons to celebrate anyhow! Buon week-end e bacione! Ingrid

Jag lydde ditt råd, spottade och svor och visst hjälpte det:) Nu visar sig en svag liten sol på himlen...
Jag tror du firar mera midsommar än vad vi gör här.
Ha en härlig kväll!
Glad Midsommar!

Cara Sparrow,
Altretanto! Hope you had sweet dreams (and no headache - from the collection of snaps)! Bacione e buon week-end, Ingrid

Cara Carol,
You seem to know the secrets of Midsummer better than us Scanditaliani. Lovely post! Bacione e buon week-end! Ingrid

Dear Vale,
No problem. It is easy. Just let yourself be invited by a Scandinavian. The mix od a Scanditalian Midsummer is great fun. We always seem to click. Bacione e buon week-end, cara! Ingrid

Cara Anna,
You "special food" sounds interesting. Wish I had been a guest at your table! Bacione e buon week-end, Ingrid

Dear Ingrid,

I guess we are all in love with fairytale of the Midsummer tradition,
but I never cease to understand why the weather is such a horror every year...in Sweden.

Anyhow, we had a magic sunset in the rain overlooking the sea.

The white horse...does he carry a prince...I mean, for the girl who sleeps on the 7 flowers?!
