In the course of time... Growing families. Altered. Added on.I am fascinated by these stone walls. Stone is the natural resource of our region. Used for centuries. The basis of a rural house. Once a no-cost building material. Found naturally in the fields.
Massive. Solid. Roughly-hewn. With character. Large stones anchor a construction. Smaller stones and pieces of brick and tile fill in the gaps.
Giving evidence of a peasant culture. Daily life with animals. Farming. Producing olive oil and wine.
Sometimes stuccoed or partly plastered. Earth colours. A town house even ornamented.Striking features. A stroll in the countryside or a village tour... Focussing on the stone façades is an aesthetic experince. In tune with history.

Man blir knäsvag av alla vackra väggar du går förbi i ditt hemland. Och aningen avundsjuk:-)
